Dr Siddick Maudarbocus
Dr Siddick Maudarbocus, founder and director at Les Mariannes Wellness Sanctuary, trained as a doctor at University College in Dublin and post-study went on to work in a variety of medical and psychiatry positions in London.
During his time at the Alcohol Addiction unit in St. Bernard’s Hospital in Ealing, he discovered how effective acupuncture was in treating certain addictions, particularly those that are stress-related. So deep was his fascination towards this integrative approach – he decided to pursue further postgraduate studies in integrative medicine, oriental healing therapy (such as acupuncture) and modern bio-energy medicine.

Mission in Africa
In 1985, Dr Siddick was offered an interesting position in Chad. His role was to be in charge of all medical operations related to an Exxon oil exploration project in Chad, Cameroon and Central Africa. During this assignment, he learned more about tropical diseases and emergency medicine in a remote location. He also discovered the vast wealth of traditional medicine and healing with plants, a practice which the indigenous population has been using effectively for several generations.
At the same time, Dr Siddick had the opportunity to become involved with various humanitarian organisations which involved working on the ground in remote areas far away from civilization. This project was very challenging as he was exposed to drought, famine in Sudan, Civil war in northern Chad, and extreme weather conditions where the dry season brought famine and the wet season brought mosquito laden infectious diseases.
This experience transformed Dr Siddick’s vision on medicine, the drug industry and the politics of power and governance. He learned from daily medical practice, observed the shamans practising their art and traditional medicine practitioners.
His thirst for knowledge allowed him to travel in highly forested areas of Central Africa to discover more healing methods. He observed children being healed with leaves boiled in a copper vessel, scorpion bites getting extracted with primitive suction from bamboo cups, and newborn babies having a handful of soil-applied to their navel right after the umbilical cord had been cut!
Discovering and learning Holistic therapies
Following his experience in Africa, he went on to study Ayurveda, Acupuncture and Bio-energy medicine in Sri Lanka, Singapore, China, France and Germany. In France, Dr Siddick was trained by Dr Paul Nogier, and his son Raphael, in the emerging field of Auricular Therapy. He learned how to stimulate the ear surface to treat conditions in the body such as muscular and joint pains, skin problems, nervous diseases, and disorders in the organs.
This method was also recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) as an effective healing system. Dr Siddick made significant contributions towards the international recognition of this new healing technique.
Mastering this amazing field very quickly, Dr Siddick began applying what he had learned to his daily practice of medicine in Mauritius. The results of his “integrative” medicinal approach were phenomenal. Patients with ”so-called” incurable diseases were not only getting relief but they were also being cured! After a short time, Dr Siddick’s reputation went beyond the shores of the tiny Mauritian Island as he began attracting an international clientele. He has also traveled to many countries where his expertise is sought after by many prominent personalities and a variety of medical experts.
Throughout his career, Dr Siddick has treated many VIP patients in several countries including the UK, France, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Dubai, Oman, Qatar, South Africa and Singapore. His success soon paved the way for him to expand on his lifelong dream of opening up a healing center in Mauritius where clients from all over the world would come to stay and benefit from his therapies.
His approach and knowledge of the healing arts hasn’t confined him to one particular field of medicine as he is now the doctor to whom patients come to when all else fails in their bid to get well and become disease-free.

Dr. Siddick and Les Mariannes Wellness Sanctuary
Although mind-body medicine has become the new paradigm in the 21st century, there are still very few centers that allow doctors to evolve and become real healers which often involves talking to patients to trigger a healing response while tapping into a wide spectrum of therapies from East and West. This was Dr Siddick’s dream for many years.
With this in mind, Dr Siddick launched Les Mariannes Wellness Sanctuary. The aim was to bring together a team of multi-specialty professionals and therapists whose specialties and knowledge would allow them to help patients who have not benefited from a purely Western allopathic approach.
Over the years, Dr Siddick has developed an international client base who have traveled to Mauritius to seek his evidence-based holistic therapies. He has also developed a network of first-class doctors in the Middle East, the U.K. and France who have since referred their patients to him regularly.
Since its inception, the team of specialists at Les Mariannes have helped many people to overcome a variety of challenges such as painful conditions, muscular-skeletal problems, burnout, a variety of stress disorders, psychosomatic conditions and addictions. Dr Siddick can best be described as the “chef d’orchestre” as he works meticulously to ensure each of his clients’ treatments is well-tuned and in harmony with their specific health profiles and needs.
He supervises all treatment programs at the clinic and consistently delivers educational training to his staff. Dr Siddick is also affiliated with a global network of psychiatrists and doctors who refer their clients to his center regularly. He is also the person that many people call upon when they are confronted with challenging and complex cases.

The Life force principle
To ensure the success of this project, Dr Siddick brought his 35-year experience in the field of medicine and healing and developed a unique concept based on ‘The Life Force Principle’ TM. This system helps clients who are treated at Les Mariannes, to discover a rapid improvement in their well being and will leave the sanctuary with a ”lifestyle prescription” allowing them to apply the practice of healing at home.
The Life Force Principle is a unique system and is often referred to as Dr Siddick’s ‘brainchild’.
The Chinese call it ‘Chi’, the Japanese call it ‘KI’ and for the Hindu’s, it’s known as Prana and all these wonderful civilizations are referring to the same thing; the life energy that is inbuilt in all living things. The energy that infuses each cell from birth until the last breath.
This is the energy of life and it is the gift of life itself!
Throughout Dr Siddick’s study and extensive travel, he focused his attention on the ‘life force’ of his patients. He discovered that diseases were present when the ‘life force’ is weak and unable to carry health-giving energy to the cells of the body. He also discovered that health returned when the ‘life force’ was restored to its optimum level.
How to boost the life force?
Various healing systems have different techniques and unique philosophies on this. The Chinese used Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Acupuncture, Five Elements Energies and Balance. The Indian’s developed Ayurveda therapies including doshas to develop the life force.
Dr Siddick discovered other great healing disciplines and that the life force can be boosted in 4 major ways: The air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat and our work-life-play balance.
This was not a complicated discovery for Dr Siddick as he set out to identify ways that would allow people to work on their ‘life force’ which in turn, optimizes health and vitality. By adopting certain procedures to boost the healing force, it is possible to overcome most diseases.
Patients, Patents and Pills
Dr Siddick’s book, Patients, Patents and Pills, has been reviewed by one of the world’s top leadership experts, Robin Sharma. In a review of Siddick’s book, Robin remarked that it was: “A fascinating book on elevating your health and longevity”.
Sometimes one reaches a point in life when sharing one’s experiences and knowledge becomes almost a compulsion.
A chance encounter with a British producer and writer in a hotel lobby in India was the life-changing moment that made this happen for Dr Siddick – his meeting with Nicholas Claxton. Claxton triggered the writing of Dr Siddick’s biography, reflections and philosophy on medicine, healing and the magnificence of the human spirit.
His biography was published in June 2018 and has resonated worldwide with like-minded doctors and individuals who have been exploring the frontiers of mind-body medicine such as the world-famous doctor and author Dr Christiane Northup who, in a powerful foreword wrote:
‘A beacon of light and healing, Dr Siddick’s medical center is located in a beautiful and healing setting on the island of Mauritius. Dr Siddick does this work because he believes it is the work his soul has been born to do. I was particularly moved by his approach to addiction as he gently explains why it is necessary to restore the addict to wholeness. Full of knowledge, humility, wisdom and compassion, Dr Siddick’s love for his work shines through every single page. Read this book and be as inspired as I am…”
